Over 130 million girls around the world are denied an education, which also means they’re denied the chance to improve their overall health, income, quality of life, and the ability to empower themselves with endless opportunities.  A girl with an education is also less likely to become a victim of violence and child marriage, which are two predominant issues that women face across the globe.

Souljourn founder Jordan Ashley is coming to London on October 17th to spread the word about how their yoga retreat programme has built a funding channel raising money for Girls Homes such as the one in Nicaraguo run by The Madre Albertina nuns where 45 girls are cared for and supported throughout their childhood. The girls are social orphans, not able to stay with their families due to distinctive circumstances.

“In 2017 Souljourn were able to take groups of yogis on retreats to Nicaragua, Peru, Cambodia, and Morocco. In each country, our group visited one of our “sister” non-profit organizations that they work with – and a portion of each retreat participants retreat fee went directly to each non-profit.  In a beautiful (and successful) attempt to build the bridge between those donating and those receiving the donation, we spent 1-2 days meeting the girls, practicing yoga with them, and engaging them (and our retreat participants) in yogic activities and art projects”.

For every participant on their retreats, $300-$500 of the total amount of the cost of the retreat was donated directly to each “sister” non-profit.

The evening in October will be at 42 Acres Shoreditch and of course there will be the opportunity to take a Souljourn signature yoga class as well as socialise with like minded others as you learn about the amazing work of this foundation and their incredible, life changing retreats.
