What is Yoga Nidra?
Everybody’s treasure… Yoga nidra is a great treasure, a potent meditative resource for healing, insight, and empowerment. It’s a state of consciousness in which we are invited to re-encounter the essential truth of who we really are. Yoga nidra provides us with the opportunity to experience deep freedom. It welcomes us all home to ourselves.
Yoga Nidra is widely considered by those who practice it to be the meditative heart of yoga. It’s a completely different state of being that effortlessly supports physical, mental and spiritual health, growth and restoration. Through a simple settling down of the body, brain and breath wonderful experiences are available to all. Nothing special is required and once you know that its easily done, its easy to do. Come home to your true self, come home to Yoga Nidra – a jewel that’s waiting for you.
Ben Wolff is a leading expert in Yoga Nidra and teaches with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli and Nirlipta Tuli on the Yoga Campus London teacher trainings to advanced level. He has developed a new scientific approach to the ancient wisdom of Nidra that combines to form a unique experience that’s rapidly effective and easy to practice.
About The Life Centre Notting Hill
Founded in Notting Hill 1993, The Life Centre is one of London’s oldest centres dedicated to yoga, Pilates and therapies. Over the years, many (maybe even most) of the UK’s top yoga and Pilates teachers have passed through the big wooden door of our Notting Hill centre, a beautiful quiet converted house and chapel – and several of our earliest students (and some of our original teachers and staff) are still Life Centre regulars. In 2011, we were delighted to open our second location, in Islington, a bright and cheery space with 2 large studios in a converted warehouse which offers a similarly broad range of classes to those in Notting Hill. In 2003, we set up our yoga education arm, Yogacampus, which offers one of the UK’s very top yoga teacher training programmes, as well as a wide range of other specialist courses and workshops. And, in 2016, we opened our doors to the yoga community in Manchester.
We believe firmly in the values of community: by being an integral part of our local communities in Islington, Notting Hill and Manchester, by playing our part in the wider London and UK yoga communities, and, perhaps most importantly, by helping to create a community among our students and clients. At The Life Centre, you will be welcomed with a smile, and, after a few visits, probably greeted by name. We pride ourselves on employing friendly and knowledgeable staff with the experience to answer your questions about yoga, Pilates and therapies. We also believe that there is a yoga path for everyone: female or male, young or old, stiff or bendy; that that there are many authentic paths of yoga, all of which deserve respect; and that our teachers and therapists should be well trained, but should each retain their own unique style, approach and creativity. Above all, we believe that The Life Centre is about YOU!
