Restorative Yoga: Quieten the Brain on Saturdays / Saturdays 14:15–16:45
with Joyce McMiken
Most of us spend a disproportionate time on the go. Upright, fully alert, active, muscles engaged, fuelled by stress or caffeine! This session is an opportunity to redress the balance. A practice that allows you to lie down, soften, slow down the brain waves, recharge, unfold over props and feel supported and held in a comfortable silence. By the end of the session the mind will be quieter and able to deal with whatever you choose to do next. During the restorative asana practice, while steady and fully supported, our muscles will soften, nervous system will be soothed, immune system re-vitalised and energy levels boosted. It is also a practice of profound self-enquiry.
In addition to the asana practice, there will be some simple techniques in breath control to help expand and balance the flow of vital energy, a little mantra work to assist us on our journey, and having prepared the physical, mental and pranic body we will close with a short soulful meditation, before leaving relaxed and ready to embrace our ever changing world.
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time to ensure that you have enough time to gather the props you require and settle in for the afternoon. Please bring a notebook and pen. **** If booking for more than one person, please call 020 7704 0919.
