Antidote London has been creating playful opportunities for adult Londoners to “shake off the day” since 2008. Billing themselves as an “antidote to the seriousness of London life”, their star bill is fortnightly playground games sessions for adults. We at Less-Stress love their ideas, so we wanted to learn more.
Less-Stress spoke to Amelia Jayne, the Head of Programming and Production about what she does and what inspires her…
What do you do?
I’m head of programming and production at Antidote London. My role is to find uplifting and unusual music, dance and games sessions that act as an antidote to the seriousness of everyday London life. Our whole ethos is inspire adults to play more. We believe that through playfulness and discovery we can lead happier, more fulfilling lives.
What is your greatest challenge at the moment?
Maintaining a flow of golden experiences that nourish and uplift participants whilst fulfilling all the practicalities of running an organisation.
What is your greatest Joy?
My greatest joy is being in a state of joy, then everything is a delight. At Antidote I see people moving into that state, they leave the workshops happier, brighter and more connected to themselves and each other than when they arrived.
Do you follow your own advice?
Yes and No! Most of the time I’m good at being playful and present. Other times I can get stuck on thought patterns that don’t serve me. I find playful activities help me to shift back into alignment.
