STUDIO UPSTAIRS

is charity that offers provide positive, life-changing interventions for people with mental or emotional difficulties within an artistic therapeutic community. Studio Upstairs is offering FREE places for Hackney residents experiencing mental or emotional health difficulties on 12 weeks peer support program. The programme is an opportunity to make art in a safe, open and creative studio environment, to meet new people and improve own health and wellbeing through art.

WHO IS THE GROUP FOR?

-Adults (18+) who are experiencing minor mental health difficulties such as anxiety or mild depression and would like to engage in creative activities. [No prior experience in art-making is required].
-Self-referrals are welcome or can be brokered by GPs.
-To qualify for a free place the attendee must be a Hackney resident, otherwise there will be a cost of £30 per session.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IN THE GROUP?

Each session will be an opportunity for people to work on their own artistic interests while engaging in relaxed, open and friendly conversation with others in the group. The group will be able to proactively shape the content and theme of the sessions. You will try out a range of artistic activities including drawing, painting and sculpting in a fully equipped art studio. The participants will have a chance to meet new people, explore their creativity in a fun, friendly and supportive space. The sessions will be supported by Studio Upstairs volunteers and a trained member of the team.

WHEN: Every Friday between 1-3pm – for 12 weeks – First session 21/9/2018 – Final session 7/12/2018
