It’s easy to see how yoga and snowsports go hand in hand; both are fantastic ways to increase strength, build your core and de-stress. While yoga improves flexibility and can help prevent injury on the slopes, the fresh air and peaceful mountain environment of a ski holiday can also aid focus, relaxation and mediation, so why not combine the two?
Many snowsports enthusiasts have already realised the power of yoga in the mountains and now the resorts are realising the benefit too.
Val d’Isere have timed their yoga festival perfectly, providing the ideal balance of spring skiing, longer days and yoga in the sunshine – sound dreamy? Join the Val d’Isere yoga festival from April 27th – 29th 2018 for three days of yoga classes, meditation, mindfulness walks and pop up food events.
With a Lululemon store just a few metres from its main ski lifts, of course Whistler is an ideal resort to host a yoga festival! The Wanderlust festival comes to Whistler in August and it’s an opportunity for warm outdoor yoga, music, meditation and SUP boarding on the lake. But, if you’d like to combine some snow with your yoga (can we coin the term snowga?!) you can always take a trip up to the Horstman glacier on Blackcomb Mountain or return in the winter months when you’ll miss the festival but can still visit one of the six studios around the resort… as well as popping into Lululemon, of course.
Stunning scenery and a fantastic, not over-crowded, ski area make La Rosiere the perfect location for a snowy yoga camp.
